SAWPA Waste Load Allocation Model

The Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority (SAWPA) was formed to help water providers in the area manage water resources in the Santa Ana Watershed. Multiple water districts actively recharge groundwater in the watershed, which can impact the groundwater in other areas.

To help assess and manage potential water quality impacts, GEOSCIENCE updated, calibrated, and applied the Waste Load Allocation Model (WLAM). This model estimates projected total dissolved solids (TDS) and Nitrate-N concentrations for Santa Ana River recharge water and discharge at Prado Dam.
